Kemah Visitor Center and Historical Society Museum after Hurricane Ike - 4-26-'09 |
Damage to the old Kemah Schoolhouse was not great due to the water going down somewhat after the initial surge. The only hard to fix damage was the warping (cupping) of the old original pine floor. However most of the cupping returned to near normal after the floor dried out over an extended period of time and now the floor only needs another sanding and varnish coat to return it to totally original. The building is still being used because you have to look really close to see the slight cupping. |
